Consumer economics is a branch of economics. It focuses on microeconomic analysis behavior of consumers, in contrast to traditional economics, which primarily deals with government or business units. Many facets of Consumer economics are measured by the Federal Reserve System and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. A number of indicators are published regularly from these sources, such as personal income, total household debt, and the Consumer Leverage Ratio.
