Siliconaires is a slang term referring to young entrepreneurs who became suddenly rich due to stock options from Silicon Valley Internet companies. The so-called “dotcom” boom resulted in the rise in stock price of many Internet companies, so many people working in or associated with these firms quickly found themselves wealthy.
The stunning performance of the Silicon Valley stocks ended in the crash of the dotcom bubble. Therefore siliconaires who entered the market late have been left with dangerously low share prices.
