Non-Farm Payroll Definition
Non-Farm Payroll is a statistic released monthly by the US Department of Labor on the state of the labor market. It represents the total number of paid U.S. workers employed at construction and manufacturing companies. Employees of the government, nonprofit organizations, private households and farms are excluded from the report. Non-Farm Payroll estimates the average weekly earnings of all non-farm employees. This statistic is used as an economic indicator.
