NASDAQ MarketSite Definition
Nasdaq MarketSite or simply MarketSite is the physical presence of the Nasdaq stock market. It is located in Times Square in New York City. It occupies the bottom of the Condé Nast Building, located at 4 Times Square. The exterior wall of the seven story cylindrical tower is an electronic video display that provides market quotes, financial news and advertisements.
The ground floor of the MarketSite contains a television studio. A wall of rear-projection monitors 55 feet (17 m) long by 12 feet (4 m) high display market conditions in real-time, providing reporters from MSNBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, BBC, CNNfn (until it was closed), and other financial television networks a backdrop to present their reports. The system, conceived by Thomas Apple, was designed by advertising firm Enock Interactive. An arc of windows looks out to Times Square, and computers within MarketSite allow guests access to market information via the Nasdaq website.
