Functional Currency Definition
The main currency used by a business. The legal tender of the country where the company operates is often used as a functional currency. The concept of functional currency was introduced by SFAS 52, defined as "the currency of the environment in which an entity primarily generates and expends cash." This is different from the reporting currency, the currency used in the company's financial reports.
