Call Date Definition
Call Date is the earliest
possible date on which the issuer of the bond may redeem the bond. It refers
only to a callable bond. The call date is different from the maturity date, as
it occurs at a point prior to the declared date of maturity that is specified
in the terms and conditions of the bond issue. If the issuer believes there is
a benefit to refinancing the issue, the bond can be paid off on the call date
at par or at a small premium to par.
